Relationship Builder

I want you to think about something. Everytime we sin, we damage our relationship with GOD. We also hurt ourselves and/or others.

Thankfully GOD dealt with the consequences with that by Jesus' redeeming sacrifice at the cross. But HE also did more. When Jesus left to take HIS place at the right hand of GOD, the FATHER, HE promised a Helper, the Holy Spirit.

Since you became a believer in Christ,  have you noticed that when you sin, you feel like less than dirt? That's good. The Holy Spirit is convicting you of that sin. You see, The Holy Spirit know of our tendency to want to hide our shames and slip them into the guilt locker. But HE loves us and won't let us get away with that. HE leans on us until we repent and will keep adding on the pressure till we do.

Why? HE knows that we need clear unbroken relationship with GOD. Sin is like a big roadblock to that. Confession with repentance clears the air and restores that relationship as if you haven't erred at all. (Note that doesn't mean you may not be disciplined by GOD for what you did. Just like our earthly parents, GOD does punish HIS children. HE does this because HE loves us even if we aren't crazy about being disciplined at the time.)

The Holy Spirit also encourages us when we make right decisions and enter wise relationships. Ultimately this dependence on HIM for guidance is one of the clearest ways of growth as a believer. And as we grow, the Holy Spirit will grow build into our life journey relationships with believers and non-believers. Because believe it or not, non-believers and our interactions with them do matter in our walk with Christ.

Thus by conviction, correction, encouragement, guidance and comfort, the Holy Spirit develops us our relationship with GOD and each other.

Take Care and GOD Bless,

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all my readers. May your day be blessed with friendship and fellowship as you rejoice in the birth of our LORD and SAVIOR Jesus Christ.

A thought...

My pastor mentioned that the shepherds were directed to see Jesus at the manger not just for their own faith experience but to share with others. May I add that GOD often does this. If you look ahead to Easter, there is a pointed remark that the angel pushed away the stone in front of the tomb. Why? Jesus could have done that or for that matter walked right through it. That little bit of stone and wax couldn't stop the maker of the universe. No, the stone was rolled away for the women and the apostles. So they could go, see the empty tomb, and share with others what had occurred.

We too are called to share what we witness. As my pastor said, we share because others who do not yet have relationship with Jesus will not see otherwise. It is this way that they may look through our eyes of faith and come to envy what we have. And in this manner seeds are planted.

The Cross

(cross found on freedesktopwallpaper.org)

At some point almost everyone has seen a cross. May I share an observation?

GOD put it on my heart this morning to look at HIS Cross anew. The vertical bar shows what Jesus accomplished on the cross. HE made a way for us to have renewed relationship with the Father. HE did this by descending to earth, becoming man, teaching and ultimately sacrificing HIMSELF on the Cross. HE then rose again, HIS task accomplished, victorious for all time over sin, death and hell.

The horizontal bar is the task HE left us with, The Great Commission. We are to bring more of our brothers and sisters into GOD's Kingdom. We are to be HIS hands reaching out to the world in love.

Thus we are to first communicate with GOD through the way HE has made then we are to reach out to others in HIS strength, power and love.

The Cross is a reminder of heaven's love and mercy to us and the Call that still resounds from HE who wants all HIS children safely home.

Black Friday

Black Friday is known for helping stores get into the "black" and giving consumers a chance at great deals. I would posit though that as the years pass, the black in Black Friday is due to how bleak consumers' behavior has become on this giant shopping day.

Let us remember what this season is for, please.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty GOD, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.(Isaiah 6:6)

See I lay a stone in Zion, a trusted stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed. (Isaiah 28:16)

The greatest gift we have ever received came in peace, love and humility. Go forth and behave in a similar manner.

A Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and to give you some food for thought.

There is always something to give thanks to GOD for.

Even if HE did no more than send HIS Son for your salvation, that is enough to fill HIS Halls with praise for eternity.

But GOD shows HIS mercies and love every day of your life. Each breath you take is a gift. Every sky you see is a masterpiece HE crafted for you. Your very senses declare his grace in every way.

I am not trying to diminish anyone's suffering. We all have pain. But that too we can be grateful for in time. Pain softens the hardness of our hearts and creates compassion for others. Shared hardship can build bridges which no kind word could. And GOD speaks to us in our pain and weakness in a special way for HE too knew suffering, hardship and loss.

So for those who do rejoice this day, may GOD bless you and yours and I hope you enjoy this special time of fellowship and family. Remember to give thanks to HIM for this day and for all the ways HE blessed and blesses you throughout the year.

And for those for whom this is a painful day,  I pray for the renewal of your joy and that Our Father holds you in HIS arms and lets you know the myriad of ways that HE loves you. May the peace of our Lord and Savior Jesus wrap around you like a cloak. And may the comfort and encouragement of the Holy Spirit ever be in your mind and heart.

GOD be with you all my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Watch how you walk

You may be the only Christ someone sees, so be careful how you walk in this life.

Non-believers often criticize Christians for not practicing what we preach. They use this as an excuse for not attempting a faith journey of their own. But sadly there is some merit to their words. Sometimes we Christians use our GOD-given freedom for license and wreck our testimony for Jesus.

We are the hands and feet of Jesus in this world. If we don't respect the Bible and what it dictates for our lives how will anyone else.

Do you not know that when you stand firm in GOD's truth other believers are encouraged?
1Thessalonians 4:7-9, Paul talks of how he is encouraged by the Thessalonians standing firm and that it brings him joy. I have felt this myself when people take public stands of gratefulness towards our Savior. My heart leaps as they give words of testimony and thanks. When you take that stand of faith, you may be that bit of encouragement that GOD uses to help another believer take one more step in his journey.

Just as children look to adults for how they should behave, so often do younger believers look to those they view as more mature. Jesus warns us of behavior that could cause any of HIS little ones to fall. (Luke 17:1-3) So ask yourself as you take an action that may be even the least be sketchy, if a younger believer sees this will it cause his faith to falter?

A small side note for this day. I do not believe in celebrating Halloween. I know some do. To me faithwise it is too tied to idolatry and paganistic practice to be of any use. Even in these times, there are those individuals that still call this one of their holy days. Safety-wise I think it is risky for anyone to let their children go traipsing around the neighborhood asking strangers for treats. If you want to let your kids get costumes fine but do it another day. Many churches have harvest fests that allow a safe environment for kids to socialize and  have fun.

Getting back to the topic at hand, we should walk in such a way that Christ is glorified in everything we do. Not an easy task and impossible without the help of HIS Holy Spirit. But if we are to be HIS witnesses, to plant seeds and encourage the faithful, it is what we are called to do.

As we are fallen humans we will make mistakes along the way, but as redeemed sons and daughters we can have an impact for Christ.

May HIS wisdom guide your journey, HIS righteousness inspire you, HIS love embrace you, and HIS faithfulness lead you ever onward. GOD Bless and keep you, my brothers and sisters in Christ.

9/11

First and foremost, my prayers are for those who lost loved ones that day ten years ago. May GOD bless you with comfort, good memories and HIS peace.

Many will gather to honor the victims and the heroes, both known and unknown. This is appropriate. Let no political rhetoric sully this day. It should be a time of reflection, remembrance, sorrow and hope.

Why hope?

Because once again GOD showed us that even amidst the evil that men do, HE can bring good from it.

We could have crumpled after such a blow but we didn't.

Instead, we used this moment of tragedy to draw nearer to one another. Churches were filled. Volunteers poured into serve at Ground Zero and elsewhere. Hands reached out to other hands that for a moment in time clasped back regardless of differences.

We were lifted up as a country by a sovereign GOD who carries us when we can't carry ourselves.

Angels

I have been tooling around in 1 Corinthians and I want to share an observation.

In today's society much emphasis and interest has been generated on the subject of angels. An angel is a servant of the LORD, a figure of power and awe. One angel devastated the firstborn of Egypt and another later destroyed an army.

An angel is a representative of the LORD and often had messages from HIM. But angels would be quick to state that they are not to be focused on as so many popular books seem to do. They are not to be worshipped or idolized. They like us are servants as one such angel told the apostle John in Revelations. We are to worship GOD.

Angels are in fact ...ministering spirits sent to serve all who will inherit salvation.(Hebrews 1:14)

David Prior in his book The Message of 1 Corinthians brings up an interesting point. It is we by our actions on this earth that teach the wisdom of GOD's gospel to the angels.(page 110, The Message of 1 Corinthians, and 1 Peter 1:14)

To put this in proper perspective, we who believe will eventually be called upon to judge angels. (1 Corinthians 6:3)

Now by no means do I want to denigrate angels. I firmly believe that to this day GOD uses them mightily for the well being of HIS people. But I do want this point driven home. We are to reserve that sense of awe and desire to glorify for GOD alone. For to HIM alone is the majesty, the glory, and the honor owed. As the angel responded to John's attempt to worship him(Revelations 22:9), I counsel you, Worship GOD.

Seekers from Afar

Even in the earliest parts of the Bible, GOD hinted at the drawing in of the nations. It was never meant to be salvation just for the chosen people, the Jews. In fact one of the reasons they were set apart was to draw people in, to show that our GOD was different than the idols of this world.

We see examples of this drawing in, the mending of the dividing line as early as Genesis. Melchizedek, a follower of GOD Most High, blesses Abraham. A priest and a king, he followed GOD even before the Jewish people came into being.

Along the way we find Rahab and Ruth, women from non-believing lands, who choose to take a chance on GOD and are blessed beyond their wildest imaginings.

There are many instances where GOD specifically promised that the Gentiles they would not be left out of HIS great salvation plan.

Isaiah 56:6-8  ...And foreigners who bind themselves to the LORD, to serve HIM, to love the name of the LORD, and to worship HIM, all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and who hold fast to MY covenant-- these I will bring to MY holy mountain and give them joy in MY house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on MY altar; for MY house will be called a house of prayer for all nations. The Sovereign LORD declares-- HE who gathers the exiles of Israel; "I will gather still others besides those already gathered.

Read also Isaiah 42:1-4, Genesis 12:3, Isaiah 11:9-12, Joel 2:28-32. This is just a selection of passages on how GOD always intended to bring in all who seek.

For my final selection I lead you to the New Testament. Matthew 2 speaks of men who traveled a great distance to seek out their GOD and King. They had followed the star from the East and brought gifts for HIM.

The Magi represent you and I at the birth of Jesus. Though once far off, GOD drew them as HE still draws us to HIM so that we may find peace, infinite love, salvation and forever joy. May HIS name be forever praised.

Discrimination in Immigration

In many ways the United States has made great strides against racial discrimination. It still has much to do however. I want to note a particular oddity in immigration that I have noticed time and again.

Cuba and Haiti are both island nations. Both have less than desirable governmental conditions. Many people in both nations have a desire to seek better lives in the States. Yet one is clearly shown more favor.

Both peoples make attempts to escape in vehicles of all sorts with varying degrees of success. Yet it is the Haitian people that are more likely to be turned back. Cubans if they make it to shore without being apprehended are protected by the wet feet dry feet policy. They can even later apply to be citizens. Haitians found in the States illegally are more likely to be summarily expelled.

Now it could be said that the Cuban community has a louder voice in politics and thus are courted more heavily. But there is this simple fact as well. Cubans in general are of a lighter hue and thus more desirable in Washington eyes. This is nothing new and Caribbean advocates have long been left wondering when the government will act in a more just manner.

I don't like pulling the race card. But the fact is Haiti is the poorest nation in the Americas. Cuba is in a position where it can offer free medical healthcare and low to no cost education to its inhabitants and other Caribbean nations. Why would we show less compassion to the neighbor in more need?

Note that I am specifically talking about immigration policy. The current humanitarian crisis and the corruption running through the Haitian government is a whole different ball of wax. But the inequity of immigration policy bears a looking into and the reasons thereof.

Insured but not so much

In the discussion of health insurance reform, there is a lot of talk about the uninsured and not so much about the barely covered. Those with Medicaid and Medicare often have to deal with long lines, shoddy service and limited recourse.

Those who serve clients of lesser means need to remember to respect the dignity of their patients. It doesn't take much for a change in your circumstances. "There but for the grace of GOD go I" is a saying that should come to mind.

All too often such facilities that will deign to serve Medicare/Medicaid clientele are dirty and crowded, helmed by surly staff.  They tend to be overbooked and underserved. There is an assembly line philosophy to visits, get 'em in and out as fast as possible. Bland advice may be issued then the patient is shuttled out. And you probably don't want to know how much the government is charged for these cookie cutter visits.

I myself have seen offices which take care of Medicaid/Medicare patients that are presentable, warm and friendly. The doctors take time to accurately diagnose, explain and treat the clientele. And they follow up without prodding. This should be the norm nor the exception.

Lest those states that have turned their Medicaid/Medicare programs into HMOs and PPOs get smug, I find that the mentality is quite similar to those in plain Medicaid/Medicare. Specialists are hard to get into and often have a number of hoops you have to go through. Benefits are steadily decreasing and medications are played with on a regular basis.

People I am not saying that Medicaid/Medicare is useless. But what I am asking is that the powers that be treat those in these different programs with the dignity and respect they deserve.

The Anthony Trial

By now many of you have heard at least something about the Casey Anthony trial. It certainly has been on ad nauseum throughout many of the news stations. There are many polarizing views about this woman and whether she deserves to die.

I am not going to voice my view here frankly but I do want to bring up something. We are to wish that justice is done not that she gets what is coming to her so to speak. Our GOD is all about mercy let us remember. If she is guilty, than there are consquences for her actions, but we are not to wish her ill or rejoice in her downfall.

Proverbs 24:17 Do not gloat when your enemy falls, when he stumbles, do not let your heart rejoice, or the LORD will see and disapprove and turn HIS wrath away from him.

Now I am not saying that because people are gloating Casey will be declared innocent. What I am saying is that we are to be better than that. If anything we should be worried about the fate of her eternal soul rather than screaming for her death.

If I might suggest a plan of action it is this. Pray for GOD's perfect justice to be done. This will take place on the other side of the Veil even if it doesn't occur here. Pray for those involved in the trial. That they be motivated by justice with mercy and that malice have no part. And pray for the Anthonys. Regardless of whether Casey is innocent or not, that family needs the healing work of GOD present in their lives.

And people, turn off that trial now and then. There is indeed more to life than one courtroom drama. Go toss a ball with your kids, read a book, listen to music, or visit the museum. The trial will still be there for some time yet.

Dignity and Glorious Abandon

I'd like to touch on something today that can be a contentious amongst the denominations. How we worship is often as different as the people themselves. What should be present though is both dignity as well as what I like to call glorious abandon.

There should be a certain behavior when you enter into the presence of Almighty GOD. A reverence that fills both heart and mind. You should treat HIM with the respect HE deserves. Yes, HE is our Friend, our greatest Friend but keep in mind HE is also King and GOD.

But don't go so strict and formal that you lose the joy. David danced before GOD enthusiastically. This was the King of Israel yet he danced in front of his people, enjoying and praising his GOD in dance and song. He worshipped in glorious abandon, letting a beacon of his love reach the FATHER and be reflected back. True rejoicing fills us with the joy and love of our GOD. Observers watch and our amazed by what they see and want it for themselves.

So if your hand creeps up while you are singing his praises and your foot steps to the beat, don't restrain them. Embrace that. Every fiber of our bodies desires to rejoice in the One who made us. So without being disruptive, let every part of yourself praise HIM.

Why we remember

Today is Memorial Day in the United States. Most people will take vacations, enjoy barbecues, swim at the beaches. Many do not even know what this day is all about.

It is a day of remembrance. A solemn day. It is a day that we honor those who fought, suffered, and died so that this country could be free.

The freedoms we have in this country didn't magically happen. They were paid for in blood. Men and women died to make sure that we could live as we do in this nation. That flag that so many disrespect, your right to fly it, honor it and sadly to burn it came from the suffering of men and women who felt called to serve. The right to disagree with your public officials came from lives spent.

The reason you have the safety in which you stand is because of those GOD still calls to serve.  So pray for our soldiers. Treat them and their families with the courtesy that they not only deserve but have earned. Disagree with the wars if you wish but uphold the men and women that protect this land. Don't you dare disrespect those who pay for our freedoms in blood unless you are willing to take up a rifle and stand their posts.

May GOD Bless all those who serve this great nation and their families. Thank you for your service and your sacrifice. --- Freedom's Scribe

It may be your right but is it right?

I was disturbed today to hear of some gas stations charging more than they should. These stations' signs were located further away from the actual facilities than they should be and thus they are being cited. But the fact is they were out of line for more than just the signs being too far away.

Quite simply they took advantage. When the state average is just under $4 a gallon and you're charging just under $6 that's an outrage. In some places that's even called a crime known as price gouging.

GOD doesn't have a sense of humor about this. HE made some clear comments about wanting fair scales and a just coinage(Ez 45:10).

What it boils down to is this. Are you charging what is fair? I'm not saying don't make a profit. What I am saying is don't make it off another's suffering.

The world has gotten into this thing of wanting 100, 200, even 300% profit for everything. Governments blame companies, who in turn blame shareholders and so on. The fact is avarice is the name of the game. But this is not how it should be.

GOD gave you the responsibility to be a wise steward of your resources. Part of this is making sure to pay fair wages if you are an owner but another is not to charge $10 for a widget if the making of it cost you 50 cents. This especially holds true during times of public trial or suffering.

It may be your right to overcharge for your product or service, but is it right in GOD 's eyes. Not so much.

Satisfaction

Our hearts are so often wandering. As time passes pleasure dulls, work numbs and possessions lose their luster. The fact is that no earthly object or person can hold our attention for long. The why is simple. We were created for more.

There is a GOD-shaped space in our hearts, people. Until we direct our attentions to HIM who created us and who can fulfill every need we will struggle to be satisfied. The simple fact is that GOD knows us intimately and desires what is best for us in work, play and every other part of our lives. So why does it surprise us that apart from HIM we can't find true joy or lasting fulfillment in any section of our lives.

Try this. Ask GOD for input about your plans and really wait for HIM to respond. The path HE points out may be rougher than you hoped for, but you'll know that very real satisfaction of fulfilling your purpose on this Earth.

Bin Laden's Death and Our Response

Today I heard of the successful mission to eliminate Osama Bin Laden carried out by U.S. Special Forces. My feelings perhaps like yours were mixed. There was that part of me that celebrated the news and another part that chided me for that response.

The fact is OBL was a force for evil in this broken world. We should rejoice in the fact that he can commit no further atrocities. He has gone to that great Judge who deals with all fairly. We must not however rejoice in the death of the man. We have been called to be better than that.

So I asked forgiveness for the bit of me that rejoiced in this man's downfall and enjoyed a mote of relief that he can wreak no more evil personally. The fact is though, there will be reprisals from his followers and others. Anyone who believes otherwise is extremely naive.

We can and must pray for peace amongst the nations. And we have been commanded to pray for our enemies. Not asked. Ordered by our GOD, the ultimate Commander in Chief. This is a hard thing I know. And what I'm about to say is harder. We were also called on to love and forgive them. Not an easy task and one that may take time. Forgiving is in our best interest. It releases the power of that hatred and fear over us.

I want to remind my readers also to not shut out those of the Islamic faith just because they have violent brethren. We are not to persecute them but to be the hands and feet of Jesus to them. If we treat them as criminals, how do we plant the seeds for Christ as HE called us to do.

Please pray for the members of the Seals who were involved in this dangerous effort. They risked their lives so that we may be safer and I for one will be eternally grateful.

Throne Room Privilege

I was blessed today by another believer praying for myself and my family. He had been prompted to do so by the Holy Spirit. In his prayer I noted something that we sometimes take for granted. He mentioned his ease access to the throne room of GOD.

Consider this. Before Jesus shed HIS blood on the cross, only the High Priest had such access and only at certain times in a very prescribed manner. The Most Holy of Holies was sealed by a curtain, signifying that direct personal relationship with GOD was not yet available. When our Savior died, that  curtain was torn. This meant that the wall of alienation between Creator and Created was taken away.

That precious line of communication, of communion with our GOD was bought with precious blood. Prayer is not something that should ever be taken lightly. Through it we may enter the throne room of  GOD and respectfully engage with HIM. Not just present requests but have an everyday conversation with the Creator of all things. HE wants relationship with us and loves it when we tell HIM about our triumphs and trials. HE interacts with us when we pray and leads us in a personal manner.

Think on this. One to one communication with the GOD who made you and loves you more than you can possibly comprehend. Never something to be taken lightly. A privilege wrought by blood and given in amazing grace.

Sealed

When you became a Christian you were sealed with the Holy Spirit. This meant your body became a temple of the Holy Spirit and thus should be treated as such. To those of us who struggle with weight issues that should be a wake up call. Overeating is not Godly behavior.

Now I'm saying that all of us people with weight issues need to jump on crash diets. And I'm not confining this talk to the weight challenged.I'm saying that GOD wants us to take care of this body of ours. HE believes that it is something special and thus so should we.

That means(groan) get out and exercise. Be careful what you intake. That does not just mean the right foods. It means watch the caffeine and sports drinks. Don't pop some pill just because you hope it will help you on some test. You shouldn't be taking anything without your doctor's advice and consent.

As your body is a temple, treat it as holy ground. No sex without a wedding ring. It cheapens you and degrades a wonderful gift from GOD. I've said this before, watch where those eyes venture.(Sadly men especially but women are catching up quickly)

Overexercising is a bad idea too. Don't make your body an idol. Try balance, it was what we were made for.

Remember this body is all you got till HE takes you home so treat it with respect.

Obedience

Why does GOD put such an emphasis on obedience?

There are a few reasons for this.

One, HE is GOD.

And as we are HIS creatures, just saying that something should be so is supposed to be enough. But GOD isn't the "cause I said so" type of parent. HE has very real reasons for HIS commands.

Two, Obedience sets the pace for relationship.

GOD placed rules to facilitate lines of communication between Creator and created. As a holy GOD, HE can't countenance our sin, but as a loving GOD HE wants to spend time with HIS children. Thus HE created a way for us to know what HE expects (The Law) and the capability to be holy and forgiven when we foul up(Jesus' death on the cross which placed HIS children who believe under the law of Grace.).

Obedience says to GOD that you are ready to trust HIM for his provision of the things that you want and need. It is a requirement for maturing in one's walk with GOD and always brings blessing even if you don't immediately see it.

Third and finally, obedience is important for our own well-being.

Sin hurts and repeated sin hurts even worse. Down that path lies strongholds(Addictions). GOD wants us to be obedient because HE has a plan for our betterment and joy. When we obey, HE sculpts us ever closer to the likeness of Jesus.

Ultimately it is love that is behind GOD's desire for our obedience. HE wishes us to know HIM better and to bless us. When we are disobedient, it forces HIM to discipline.

Obedience isn't always easy but it is the better way. There is joy and peace in this journey that no amount of sin could ever convey.

Good Friday

Why is Good Friday good?

God who is holy saw us who were most certainly not and had mercy on us. A very short response, not quite up to par. In truth, we as sinners were as far from the goodness and purity of God as could be. Our works could not save us as we could never be"good" enough to satisfy the justice and righteous of Holy Almighty God. Sin isn't just something we do. It is a part of who we are, a disease inherent to mankind since the Fall. Now when I say disease that does not excuse us from it but explains part of what comes next.

God hurts because we hurt. He loves us more than we can possibly imagine. But as the Righteous Judge, He had to judge our sin. The penalty for sin is death, ultimate and final. But He could not bear that His children that He loves be put through that without giving them a way out.

The Great and Holy plan of Love was created before time began. God the Father knew we would sin and with the full participation of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, designed our rescue. At the right moment in time, a Savior would appear, taking on mankind's sin. But who could that be? Certainly not man himself who was from birth a sinner. Yet it must be a man in order to know our sufferings and take on our sin. Even more he must be innocent, or he could not even save himself.

Enter the incarnation of Jesus. fully God, yet He stepped into this world as a babe. He grew to manhood, a flawless, sinless Savior. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, approved by the Father, He taught in our world.

That would not be enough to save. The sin must still be judged. So Jesus, as per the plan of the Father, allowed himself to be betrayed by a friend, judged by the corrupt leaders of his time, brutalized by the cruelty of soldiers, then murdered in a most excruciating manner. That alone was bad enough but Scripture tell us that on Him every sin was laid. He who was totally without sin had to know our sin, every evil thought and deed we ever came up with throughout all time. He knew a sense of total abandonment by God the Father.

Why would He go through this? Because God --  Father, Son and Holy Spirit -- loved us so much that He did not want us to go through death and hell. Instead He sentenced Himself.

Hear what Jesus said from the cross. "It is finished." Once and for all time, the sin debt was paid for in an act of love that will never be defined or fully understood.

Why is Good Friday good? Because God showed for all time how much He loved us in the redeeming sacrifice of His Son. He showed his approval of the sacrifice by resurrecting Jesus from the dead.

There is more to it. You see this is not an automatic get out of jail free card. God respects our free will. If we want His gift of salvation we have to ask.

This is a sample prayer for salvation:

Father God, we know that we have sinned against You. We are grieved by our sin and how we have hurt You. We ask You in the name of Jesus and because of His redeeming sacrifice on the Cross to forgive us. We gladly accept Jesus as our personal Savior and Lord.

If you prayed this prayer in faith and belief that Jesus is risen from the dead and that He can and will forgive your sins, congratulations. It's your birthday. You have been born again. And from now on Good Friday will have new meaning to you. If not, please don't wait. For those who do not accept Christ as Savior, there is no recourse. Death and Hell are waiting. No amount of good works will save and Jesus is the only Way home.

Suffering and what not to say

When someone you know suffers the first thing we want to do is reach out. We want to say something to make it feel better. We want to help them understand why they are going what is happening to them.

The first thing we should do is check our opinions at the door. Regardless of our theories on the crisis, we are here to comfort that person not judge them. I would recommend praying before you even get near the person(s) in question. Ask for wisdom in what not to say and when not to say anything at all.

When someone is hurting, they often appreciate touch more than the spoken word. A simple hug can uplift a heart more than a thousand words. Express your caring in the practical. Maybe cook a meal for the person, offer to take care of their kids, or pick up the mail.

A kind ear is often appreciated. Listen, again without judgment, to what the person has to say. Don't jump to offer opinions. If you're wondering why I stress this, read(or reread) the book of Job. His friends tried to tell him why he was suffering but ended up being unkind, callous and downright wrong. Instead ask what you can do to help.

You being there can be all the person needs. So leave your comments at home and just be a friend.

Sharing Grace

Grace, undeserved favor from GOD, was never meant to be kept to oneself. It is in sharing that love and mercy with others that grace finds its greatest fulfillment.

When GOD gives a gift to one of HIS children, HE expects that child to build up HIS Body first, then ultimately share it with the world. It is in this reaching out that hearts are touched and lives are changed.

GOD doesn't give any gift not to be used. So, whatever your GOD-given talent is sharpen and hone it. If your gift is writing, then write a novel, scribe a sonnet, post a blog. Use your words to encourage, strengthen and lift up your readers. Maybe hospitality is your calling. Then be a greeter, cook a meal for a neighbor, or serve the poor. The simple touch, a kind word, and a smile can change a person's whole day. The point is to reach out to people where they are at with the gifts you've been given. We are to be the hands and feet of Jesus wherever we go.

I leave you with a quote that I heard a long time ago. "Your talent is GOD's gift to you. What you do with it can be your gift to GOD." --- Author Unknown

May GOD shower you with HIS grace and you in turn bless the world in HIS mighty and holy name.

Champions

Many of you have seen Clash of the Titans, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and other movies based on mythology. There is a common thread in each. The "gods" choose a mortal to complete a task and an adventure ensues.

GOD, too uses everyday people to accomplish tasks. The difference is why.

The "gods" of myth were not omnipotent. They would empower a hero to take on a task because they were concerned with their own petty interests. Case in point, the heroes of the Trojan War fought over what in reality was the results of a beauty contest. They could be defeated by mortals. Hercules wrestles Death to save a friend's wife. In Clash of the Titans we see Perseus has to save Zeus from himself as he has been tricked by his younger brother Hades. So they weren't omniscient either.

When GOD raises up a champion it is partly because the person is flawed. Why is this, you ask? So that when the victory comes or the accomplishment occurs, it will be obvious that the mortal did not do this on his or her own. That GOD Himself was intricately involved in every aspect of the action. This rightfully brings glory to GOD's name. Why you ask is GOD so interested in the glory. Not because of ego. GOD's glory is infinitely tied to HIS character. GOD is love. And when glory comes HIS way, it showcases HIS love for us, HIS people and for the lost. And thus when HE is glorified in our actions that reflect HIS character, people notice and come to HIM to be freed from bondage, And thus GOD's redeeming goal is fulfilled and sinners are brought home.

Saints past

I was blessed to catch a movie on TBN about the Tyndales the other night.(To be accurate it was in the wee hours of the morning due to a bit of insomnia.) They had much to do with why you have a Bible in your own language instead of Latin or not at all.

We who are followers of Christ in the West in these modern times do not always understand fully how priveleged we are. The fact is that many believers went to some very gruesome ends to give us the Bible as it is and the legacy of faith along with it. The Tyndales for example translated the Bible into English, something at the time was considered heresy by the Catholic Church. They would send out tracts with the newly translated Word to hungry believers who were starved for the Scriptures. For doing this work and standing firm in the faith they were both eventually burnt at the stake.

Now I am not mentioning this to stir up factionalism. Each denomination of Christianity has its own skeletons in the closet. No, what I am saying is that men and women of faith died so that we could have the Word as it is. We should never take the gift of having the Bible to read freely lightly or freely. It was paid for in precious blood.

I say this to those of in the West because many in Eastern countries know exactly what I mean. Christianity is forbidden and underground in these lands. They face persecution and death to hear the Word. Pages torn from a single Bible nourish whole communities.

So take a look at your Bible if you have one. Read it like the precious treasure it is. GOD's saints have bled to bring you this book and HIS Son died to keep the promises within.

Authorities

Many of us complain about those in authority of our city, state, and/or country. Some of those complaints can get down right ugly. That should not be but that is a topic for another day. What I am getting at is these people deserve our respect. Their jobs can be downright revolting at times and certainly thankless. They also need our prayer.

We are directed to pray for those in authority over us.(1 Timothy 2:2)That is most important and should be remembered first and foremost. But we are also commanded to pay our taxes(Romans 13:6-7)(groan) because this is how those in authority are paid. I fully understand if you are late because you just don't have it. But if you have it, remember that this not only pays for schools, roads, and prisons, but the police, fire department and yes, those officials we love to scream about. So please do not try to weasel out of it. That hurts the rest of us.

We are also commmanded to give respect if the person is due it(Romans 13:7). Frankly this is one where I have noticed that police take a lot of guff. Yes, we all hate tickets. Some of the time they are even given unjustly. Still, it would not hurt to remain civil and even wish the officer a good day. They are there to protect us, a dangerous and again often a thankless job.

I know I am rambling a bit but bear with me. What I am getting at is this. There is no authority that was not allowed in place by GOD. Remember that the next time a public official makes your blood pressure rise. Then take a breath, pray for the person in question, and act in a way befitting a follower of Christ.

Oh and on a side note, if you didn't vote and could have, don't complain about an elected official. You gave away that right in my books.

Watch where you look

The eye is one of the most awesome tools that GOD gave us to enjoy the world. It also can get us into a lot of trouble. The eyes are often the accomplice to many different sins; lust, envy, and greed for starters. This is why I caution you as to where you let your gaze linger.

For example, if you see a woman/man that is attractive, I'm not saying feel guilty when you do a double take. But if you find yourself lingering on their profile for a while, you should redirect your eyes elsewhere.

It is often that lingering that can get you into trouble with money. Yes, that new 3-D t.v may have all the bells and whistles but you have a perfectly good set at home. It's that process of dwelling over the object rather than being content with what you have that causes the problem.

The world doesn't want you to guard your eyes. In all forms of media you are slammed with advertisements that claim you "need" their product to be happy. As we let ourselves "see" these items, we become fascinated by them. And even if we did not per se have a need, we begin to desire the item anyway. Or maybe we don't see the item but we covet what the item is associated with whether sex, wealth or power.

Eyes are wonderful gifts but ones that merit a bit of caution. Enjoy them but ultimately remember to keep them and their focus fixed where true satisfaction can be found.

The landmines of labels

It is always wise to gather all the facts before one rushes to label a person and/or a community. This can often save one from embarassment.

I have found my ethnicity at times a trial and a joy. The problem comes when people try to place me in a box. African-Americans place me with Caucasians or Mexicans. Caucasians often mistake me for Arabic, Hispanic, or African-American. None of these truly encompass who I am or the wonderful identity GOD designed just for me. Don't even get me started on how government forms treat me.

I have seen this happen with those who society affixes the title cognitively disabled. Does this label explain how compassionate this person is? Does it expound on the fact that person X may have a cognitive disorder but also has a faith that would make the mountains shift? No, it boxes the person into a category so they can be assessed in the crudest of all forms.

Of course there are the instances of people of differing physical challenges and aptitudes. Two people could both have parking tags for the physically challenged, but be treated totally differently because person A's challenge is visible and B's is not. I used to deal with this all the time. I happen to be blessed that my muscular dystrophy is not as aggressive as it could have been. But because people couldn't "see" the disease they assumed I was misusing the privelege. I would get dirty looks and glares both from the "able bodied" and worse yet others with physical challenges. You'd think the latter would know better but sadly it often is not so. Only now that I regularly use a cane am I spared that particular judgmental behavior.

I am not saying I have not been guilty of labelling because that would be a blatant lie. What I am declaring is we should be better than that. Don't try to place everyone you see in a box. Take a risk. Try to meet the real person. It can prove educational and may be a greater blessing than you know.

Partners

This is directed to all who plan to marry someday.

When you take your vows, there are two additional partners included in this holy sacrament, the LORD and HIS Body, the Church. Neither are there just for the cake and presents. They are your support system, and I guarantee at some point you will need both of them.

GOD is there for every part of your marriage and it is HE who you will lean on during the times when you miss your spouse, have a bitter argument, or one of you is hurt. HE is the great bridgebuilder and fencemender. It will be to HIM that you cry out for solace or in joy. HE is the one that can save a broken marriage and heal broken betrayed hearts. Don't be afraid to ask HIM for help, HE is always there to give it.

The other partner that we don't often think of is the church body. The Body should be the accountability partner that helps spouses not to stray, the adviser that helps both partners grow in their walks with GOD and with each other. The Church is where pastoral counseling can be found. Don't hesistate to ask for help from the BODY, we're here to help bear each others' burdens. Don't let shame get in the way of getting help. As my pastor says, we don't do shame here. Jesus took care of all that.

(It can be uncomfortable by the way when you see another person's spouse straying. You may wish not to say anything. But we are called to correct in love. Don't embarass the person in public, but pull them aside and kindly say what needs to be said. You may lose the relationship but save their marriage.)

Dream big

We often get caught in circumstances and take our eyes off the bigger picture. GOD wants us to dream big. Don't settle for the everyday humdrum food, sleep, and work existence. Pray for a GOD sized view of things.

The Word is filled with those who looked ahead. Did they always get to see what they worked towards? No. But the world is better for their dreams.

Abraham was called by GOD to see what Canaan could be if he obeyed GOD. To see blessings that would not happen in his lifetime. David wanted to see a temple dedicated to the LORD but it would be his son, Solomon who would complete the work. Zerubbabel was called to rebuild the temple and because he was faithful saw it in his lifetime.

GOD wants you to strive for something beyond your reach. This so that all can see that is really HIS strength that empowered the dream and brought it to fruition.

Dreaming can be hard. There will be those who seek to tear it down and call it impractical. But if GOD is for your dream happening, then fear not, be steadfast and work onwards. It will come true.

Surround yourselves with a similar sense of purpose and vision. Always pray your way through the obstacles in your way.(And for that matter pray throughout) Know that it will not happen overnight. Growth is part of what GOD is accomplishing in this process and that always takes time.

I leave you with this prayer from the song, "Find your wings" by Brent Miller.

I pray that GOD will fill your heart with dreams and that faith gives you the courage to dare to do great things.

GOD bless and keep you my friends,

Support

As you know, we are currently engaged in events in Libya. You also probably know that I was not in support of intervention. But now that we seem to be part of the ongoing mess there, I would like to say this. Please pray for our servicemen. They serve as volunteers, are paid less than peanuts, and put up with a lot of junk to defend us. In the end they risk their lives to defend us. So please, pray for them and if you know a soldier personally, say thanks.

I also would ask for prayers for those in leadership of the coalition military forces as well as the political leaders involved. We are indeed called to pray for those in authority anyway, but I would express a special call to do so in times of conflict. (Which seems to be everyday these days.)

There also has been a bombing in Jerusalem's main bus station. Last I heard there were many injured, at least one critically. Please lift them up in prayer. Israel catches a lot of flak in the news that it mostly does not deserve. Frankly, they  are the friendliest nation in the region and they deserve our respect and sympathy.

Lastly, Japan needs prayer as well. Radioactivity continues to spread and the death toll still is not completely determined. Pray for wisdom on the part of the leaders, patience and protection for those who aid and comfort to those who are grieving and suffering.

Thank you and GOD Bless,

Signs of the Times

I'm sure that there are all sorts of wacky theories about why there are so many disasters at the moment. I have even heard that there are those who say that doomsday is around the corner.

People please wake up. Only GOD the Father knows the day and the hour of when HE will close the books on this world. Only HE knows when Jesus will return. Yes, we are in End Times. We have been in End Times since Jesus ascended into heaven. Jesus said there would be many disasters and wars before HE came again. But again only GOD the Father knows the exact second of the Second Coming.

So instead of running willy nilly and worrying about tomorrow, concern yourself with how you should act today. Be about the tasks that GOD has given you, be a light as GOD has told you, and walk in a way the brings glory and honor to HIS name.

Thank you and GOD Bless,

True liberty

In Christ we have freedom. Jesus died that we would be free of sin and able to serve GOD by the power of HIS Holy Spirit. We believers must be careful how we use this freedom though. Just because something is not wrong does not necessarily mean you should engage in it.

Take this in mind. Does what you are about to engage in hurt a younger believer? That movie may be fine for you at your level of maturity but will it confuse a baby Christian? If so, better to skip it.

Another thought. Will going to this place, engaging in this activity, or being with this person encourage you to sin?   Then it is better to stay away.

Will buying said product cause you to overindulge? Maybe find something else or go without.

I'm not saying that this is easy. By no means. If you aren't sure about something, listen for the promptings of the Holy Spirit. HE will help you develop a sense of discernment about such things.

Some things may be permissible but the real question is are they really beneficial in the long run. Always keep in mind your faith walk with Jesus. If you can't say honestly that HE would be okay with whatever it is then skipping it is your best bet.

Focus

One has to watch where one's focus is whether you are dealing with geopolitical issues, playing baseball or traveling your faith journey.

I personally think we should be more concerned with humanitarian affairs here and in Japan rather than a no-fly zone or airstrikes in Libya. We should not waste time, treasure, or lives in another potential bog down situation. That neck of the woods too often resents any efforts on our part to stabilize the region so why would this be any different? Just a sidenote.

Focus in one's faith journey means keeping your eyes on Jesus. Doing this will help you in facing the storms of life. When you don't, things will appear too big to handle. You forget that the same power that raised HIM from the dead is available to you.

When you find yourself in such a situation, take a moment to breathe. Remember that you are covered by the blood of Jesus and sealed by HIS Spirit. Claim the promises of GOD. Here's a couple I like to remember. We are more than conquerors through HIM who loved us(Romans 8:37). If GOD be for us who can stand against us(Romans 8:31). So recall who you you serve, fix your eyes back on the one who conquered Death and go forth.

May GOD bless and keep you,

Doubt

Doubt is a hard one to tackle. It wiggles its way in your head and makes a nest for itself. You start questioning every step of faith you took. Left alone it can eat at your heart.

The first step is to admit that you have doubts. Look at Thomas, one of the Apostles. Some look down on him because of his questions. Yet Jesus chose him for a reason. HE loves us hard headed people too. When GOD chose you, HE knew every doubt you would have, every question you would raise. There is a reason why there are so many commentaries and other resources as well. GOD inspired HIS shepherds here on earth to provide them for us.

GOD is not afraid of your questions. Confess your doubt to HIM, then ask away. HE will probably use a myriad of ways to answer so be ready. First and foremost, be in the WORD. This is your primary resource for questions of faith. HE speaks through HIS Word. So be ready with pen in hand. Second, HE often speaks through the counsel of other believers. Be in a bible study or consult with a more mature Christian. They may not have the answers your searching for but they may be able to direct you to someone who can. Third, there is a multitude of bible based resources you can consult. As always make sure they sync with the Bible. If not, drop them like a bad habit.

GOD loves you. HE doesn't want you to leave you with doubts. Don't feel bad that you have them and certainly don't let them fester.

I leave you with this verse which I often think on when I struggle with doubt.

Trust the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Remember the LORD in all you do and HE will make your path straight. (Proverbs 3:5)

A request for prayer for those in Japan

This fallen world of ours groans as it waits for GOD's renewing grace. It seems like there have been more disasters in recent years. This was all predicted in the WORD.

One such disaster is the recent events in Japan. An earthquake, followed by a tsunami has wreaked havoc on this island nation. Even now they still are experiencing aftershocks.

What is my point? Simply, please pray for this nation. Many do not know if their loved ones are still alive. Pray for the rescue workers and medical professionals as they seek to aid. Pray for the militaries of Japan and the United States as they move to save as many as possible. Pray that the people of Japan feel the comforting hands of Jesus in this time of national grief and seek HIS face forevermore.

The time will come for economic aid, but prayer is always our first line of assistance. So please pray.

Another side of the family

Most of us joke about the different sides of our families. This one gave us our eyes, that one gave us our smile, and that one gave us our height. If we are honest, we also joke about attitudes and shortcomings that were "passed on". Niece Josie has her grandmother's sarcasm, etc...

Think on this. When you were adopted into the Body of Christ, you gained a whole new side of the family. Do others see HIM in you? Are you showing the characteristics of your Father in Heaven? The love of Jesus, is it in your eyes, hands and feet?

Part of your walk with Christ is developing fruits of the Spirit. These come by walking in relationship with Jesus and following HIS lead. They grow over time through faith and obedience. They become visible in how you interact with GOD and with those HE loves.

If others do not see the family resemblance in you, perhaps it is time for a heart check and a long talk with Jesus.

Aliens

One of the groups that the ancient Israelites were especially to watch out for were the aliens in their midst. This was due to their hard tenure in Egypt. Here's something to consider. We as Christians too are aliens in this world. Our citizenship is of Heaven, and we are only sojourners in this fallen world. We are to be in the world, but not of the world, yet moving through it.

So how should we as Christians act? Like our predecessors, the Israelites, we too should be mindful of the alien in our midst. Rather than ostracizing those different in color, ethnicity, and/or economic status, we are to welcome them as we would Christ. For we too were alienated at one time. And it was Christ's scarred hands that drew us near and brought us home.

Surprises

Have you ever noticed that GOD loves to surprise HIS children?

Moses was told that he would never be able to cross the Jordan as a consequence for disobedience. A real disappointment. Moses had so wanted to see the Promised Land. He would die just outside Israel. One might think that this is where the story ends.

It is not.

Fast forward to the Transfiguration of Jesus. There are two figures of Old Testament present. Moses and Elijah. And where exactly were they? In the Promised Land. Can you imagine the smile on our LORD's face as he told Moses what was to come? Surprise...

Jacob thought his son Joseph long dead. He would not only see Joseph again but hold his Joseph's sons. A blessing and a surprise.

The Bible is full of many such cases. GOD loves to bless HIS children and appears often when we least expect it. Nothing is too little for HIM to care about and there is no place where HE can't reach.

A small anecdote. A few years back, I had an appointment to go to and of course I took my cell phone. Lo and behold by the time I left the appointment it was nowhere in sight. I was crushed. I said a prayer that it be found and left it in HIS hands. Mind you I was still crushed because I was pretty sure it was lost for good.

I get home and drop my stuff off on my bed. Sitting on the charger, nonchalantly minding its own business, is my cell phone. Now some of you are going to say you just didn't take it with you. The fact is, I did. The only reason that phone was back was the grace of GOD. A wonderful surprise!

A time and a season

I know that almost all of us prefer clear skies and warm temperatures but let's remember that there is a time and a purpose for everything.

Down here in Florida we have been having a rash of wildfires. So I personally am very glad of the rain that I hear pouring outside my windows. It helps the firefighters, calms the flames, and protects people. It is truly a blessing from GOD.

As it is said in Ecclesiastes, there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.(Ecc 3:1, Today's NIV) This of course includes weather.

There are also different types of "weather" we go through in our walks with Christ. There are moments of closeness and those not so fun times of dryness. There are times of revelation and times of silence. All are necessary parts of the journey. Each can teach us about the GOD we serve.

It may be the season of dryness is teaching to seek harder, to be patient, or to treasure those moments of intimacy between you and GOD. A season of revelation may be preparing you for new responsibilities or  the Holy Spirit may be teaching you about something specific in your life. A time of silence may indeed be the LORD just wanting you to be still and know HE is GOD. All are seasons of the walk.

So while you are in a season, try and learn all you can from it before you move on.

Holiness

To the modern eye, many of the regulations in the Old Testament seem archaic. But look closer. The LORD was showing the Israelites what it meant to be set apart, or holy.

HE does this today as well. Granted we don't have to sacrifice sheep, goats, and oxen to have fellowship or remove sin, but as we mature HE prunes us of worldly habits and sin.

Since becoming a Christian, most believers would agree that their lives have changed. A large part of this is due to the work of the Holy Spirit. As we mature, HE changes our desires and wants to more reflect who we are in CHRIST.

For example, a book or movie that you found okay earlier in your walk makes you uncomfortable now. Later on you may note that the language bothered you or there was too much sex. The season of your life where that was acceptable is over.

This can be uncomfortable. I personally have had to give up novels, games and movies that make my soul itch now but didn't earlier. It is always better to let go with grace rather than trying to hold on to these things. For one thing we know that whenever GOD takes something away HE has something better in the wings. Second, holding on to them will just make you miserable in the long run.

Intervention

I know that there are some in Congress that want us to intervene in the Libya situation. Frankly that's a bad idea. We are already engulfed in two conflicts and should not take on any more.

We need to focus our efforts on our own at home. Too often when we extend a helping hand, we are criticized, spat upon, and downright betrayed. Expending our time, treasure, and lives in another flare up with dubious geopolitical benefits is something we can't afford.

What these politicians neglect to mention is that such aid would have a high cost. Immediately, there would be more deficit spending. Thus less money to go towards schools, welfare programs, roads, and debt relief. Later, there will be the cost in lives as we lose more soldiers in a conflict which we should have no part of.

This may seem callous but the United States needs to mind its own business. We'll be criticized for doing so but that would happen if we intervened too.

Education cuts

Again I hear of cuts being proposed to education throughout the United States. Let me get on my pulpit here people. This is shortsighted. Plain and simple. Let me put it in political-ese. Your future constituents will suffer from what you are proposing. Those high tech jobs you want the U.S. to have will go elsewhere. Thus the money for your future budgets will disappear as well. It is that simple.

We are here to protect those minds and bodies of the little ones. The LORD gave us the task to raise children in a Godly manner. Part of this is to see that they have a well-rounded education. And by well-rounded I do not mean New Age meditation, but music, the arts, as well as sports.

A big reason why the European and Asian nations are climbing away from us is that they put such a high value on education. If the United States is to prosper, it needs to cease hindering the education of its children.

And a sidenote. I know that e-readers are a big to do these days. But this is no reason to consider closing libraries or cutting their funding. The fact is that many do not have access to a Kindle or a Nook. They get by with what they find at their local library. Do not exclude a portion of the populace from access to books, internet and other resources just because they are of lesser means.

Patience

Odds are there will have been something today that really tried your patience. I myself had to deal with an insurance matter that should have been fixed by now. Not pleasant, let me tell you. One of my pet peeves in fact.

Like it or not, we all have to deal with matters or people that grate on our nerves. Once again, we have to decide how we will respond. Blowing one's top can be a release, but the aftermath leaves much to be desired. What we really need to do is try to take a deep breath and pray.

I know that prayer comes up in a lot of my entries. The fact is it is often the best way to seek a GOD honoring resolution to problems. Even if a quick answer is not given, you have reminded yourself who you serve and who you would not want to shame. Thus your response to the situation will bear that in mind.(Or at least it should)

A lot of people are not going to like what I say next... but GOD does use these people or circumstances in our growth. If you've been praying to be kinder or more compassionate, look out. A lesson on patience may be on its way.

Patience is an important fruit to cultivate because it comes up in so many situations. We need it in our relationship with GOD and with those HE loves.

Hills often come before Mountaintops

We of the Christian worldview often speak of valleys and mountaintops in our walks with GOD. I want to share a thought. There are many hills on the way as well.

Daily small victories, or what I call hills, are often what pull us through while in a valley. The ability to treat one's family to a night out in spite of economic woes is one such hill. Are you through the storm? No. Did you win the lottery? No. But you were able to share a fun night out with your family. A wonderful moment in spite of the current valley.

GOD gives us these "hills" for a little extra oomph along the way. We can't always see the mountaintop from the valley we are going though, but we can remember HIS provision from a day or two before.

The person struggling to pay their rent may look forward to the mountaintop of a  new job. But he or she can also rejoice in the "hill" of the tax refund paying for the next month.

Now I am not saying this is always the easiest lesson to take in. We want the mountaintops all the time. But would we still be as thankful to GOD if we didn't have times of struggle and crisis. That of course is a rhetorical question. Most of us would not.

So, my statement to you is this. Remember to praise GOD for the hills as well as the mountaintops.

GOD Bless.

Legacy

Today's media seems to make celebrities out of the most dubious people. Many of the reality show star and starlet wannabes are who I am talking about here. Instead of being known for their acting, singing, or dancing prowess, the members of this group seem to be known for their tackiness and crudity.

Yet I feel sorry for these people. Yes, I know they are laughing all the way to the bank but what of the future? What will they say to their children who have been mocked for their parents' misdeeds. Or worse when their children start to emulate what they saw their parents do?

We have heard of former porn stars who have repented lamenting over what their children might one day have to deal with. Might not these reality stars learn from their mistakes.

It may be "boring" to work a nine to five but most of the time you can hold your head up amongst family and friends. Instead of seeking men's acclaim and worldly wealth seek something higher. Store your treasures up in heaven whether it is time, treasure, or talent. Look for approval that won't fade when your looks do and the praise that gives eternal satisfaction.

Avoid Rigidity

There is such a thing as being rigid in your faith walk. If you are freaked by not reading your Bible at the exact same time everyday, that's probably an issue.

Does GOD want you to be in the WORD? Yes. Does HE mind that today you read it at noon instead of when you just woke up. Not so much...

Legalism can creep in if we are not careful. Legalism is when you follow the letter of the law more than the spirit.

For example, one church may celebrate the Sabbath only on Sunday, where others celebrate it on Saturday. A legalist would say one is right and the other must therefore be wrong. In reality we are to have a day, which we set aside to honor GOD by resting. This could be a Wednesday if that is the day you choose in faith.

Now that doesn't mean that there aren't some areas in which we are to stand firm. Obviously our tenets of faith are non-negotiable. But standing firm is different than walking in a rigid or legalistic manner.

When reading the WORD we are to act in love on what it teaches. When you correct someone(or for that matter yourself), make sure that they have really done something wrong in GOD's eyes. And then recognize that the goal is their restoration, not condemnation. Mercy triumphs over judgment(James 2:13).

Idolatry in the Information Age

Idolatry is a term that conjures up images of primitive people praying to a figure of wood, silver or gold. Most people laugh at the thought of idolatry in this age. They could not be more deceived.

Do you pay more attention to your Facebook account than your church attendance? That's idolatry. Do you place more importance on checking your portfolio than knowing your Scripture? Idolatry again. The list goes on.

Idolatry is any activity, item or relationship that takes your primary focus off GOD and your relationship with HIM. So you see, idolatry is not only present but rampant in today's society.

Now here's the good news. If you are a believer, GOD has your number.(Of course if you aren't HE has your number but in a different way. More to follow.) GOD has a way of weaning a believer off the things that hinder the love relationship between you and HE. Some of how this happens is that the activity will make you increasingly more irritable and miserable. If that doesn't work GOD will ratchet up the heat. HE loves you too much to allow you to have only second best.

As for those of you who don't believe, frankly you are at the mercy of Satan's whims to be blunt. But GOD sent HIS Son so you don't have to be. Jesus came so you could know the real GOD and not be enslaved to your appetites and sin. If you seek freedom, ask Jesus. HE's always got room for one more family member.

Chronic Pain

I have a deep respect for anyone who bears well under constant pain. This is to a certain extent because I suffer from chronic pain and have done so since birth. There are good days and bad. Today happens to be a little more mediocre than I would like but enough of that.

Paul too labored under a chronic illness. He plead for the LORD to take it away but HE said no.GOD gave Paul the response, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."

Hard words if taken at face value. But GOD knows each of us. In Paul's case, it may have been to offset a possible case of pride. Paul was given a wondrous vision of paradise, something that he himself says could have led him to be conceited. Thus GOD allowed the "thorn" into Paul's life to remind him where his true strength and worth came from.

I know when I have a particularly bad day that I have to depend more on other people. This can be quite humbling. But also it uplifts me. Their efforts are a love-gift to me. I also lean more on GOD, knowing that it is indeed HIS strength that allows me to take the next step.

Often it is when we are in pain that we make the biggest steps in our faith journeys. We are made to slow down, take stock, and take heed.

Friends in the Internet Era

So, I just joined Facebook, albeit kicking and screaming. I've looked over the shoulder of people who have been sucked into this global phenomenon with a degree of pity and amusement mixed with terror. Keeping up with one's "friends" on Facebook could become the work of a lifetime.

I am a bit concerned about how focused people are on it to the exclusion of reality. This has been said about chatrooms, MUDs, MMORPGs, and other internet social activities but bears repeating. We need to be grounded in reality, having real friends, real relationships, and be in real communities.

I'm not saying that Facebook won't be a wonderful tool to reconnect with people from years past. I too look forward to catching up with compadres from college. It also beats paying Ma Bell. (smile) But... Keep things in perspective. A digital hug isn't as cool as a real one. And a few minutes face time with an on site friend can matter more than a thousand words on-line.

Peace among the Body

It is said that the Body of Christ is the only army on the planet known for friendly fire. A sad fact easily seen given all the tension between the denominations of the Faith.

Paul warned against such schisms in First Corinthians Chapters 1 through 4. We need to avoid such arguments which are built on pride and not of the Spirit of GOD. Instead rejoice that GOD makes the effort to reach people where they are at. Some of us are more into the traditions and ceremonies, others of the body focus more on laying on of hands and speaking in tongues. If both are faithful to Scripture, does it matter that one imbibes and the other does not. Jesus himself drank. Does it matter that one allows dance and another does not. David, a faithful servant of the LORD reveled in dance before his GOD.

I'm not saying that there are not denominations that masquerade as fellow brethren but clearly do not teach from the Bible. Indeed we must pray for the members of such groups for they are most certainly being led astray. No, this missive is about the backbiting between the denominations who are all true followers of Christ but go about it in different but still scriptural methods. Enough is enough. Satan plagues us with enemies without, we need not create our own within.

Insurance

So, my insurance company played around with my medications again. I'm sure many of you can relate. You just get used to a regimen that doesn't throw you too far off balance then they up and change it.

Don't get me wrong, I feel blessed that I have insurance. So many don't. But it does get frustrating when you are switched off a blood pressure medication that works well for you to one they hope will work because it is cheaper at this point. I am on the wonderful merry-go-round of "side effects that may occur in some patients but suck it up anyway".

I do have a problem with how powerful the insurance industry has gotten though. Medical costs are so high that you really do need insurance but often you are left questioning the merits. You are usually forced to see a certain set of doctors, take an approved list of pills, and then they still want to stick you with part of the bill.

Now, that  being said, I don't believe Obama's healthcare initiatives are the way either. For  one thing their constitutional status is in question. Second, I believe there was too much influence by special interests to have a workable program. Third, I have no idea how he thought the federal government could manage it given how far in debt we are.

This is all getting a bit off point. I'll just say that if the healthcare industry(which includes the different pharmaceutical companies) would satisfy themselves with a bit less profit, then perhaps more could be helped.

Love

A topic perhaps for yesterday but oh well. Sometimes we take for granted those special people in our lives. We become "comfortable" with them and not in a good way. They become part of the scenery in the world we call "Me", there only to serve and coddle us.

This is not how to treat the ones we hold dear. They are treasures entrusted to us by GOD. We are to help them to grow, to respect and cherish them. First Corinthians 13 describes that which we should aspire to. Patience(Love is patient), kindness(Love is kind), forgiveness(Love keeps no record of wrongs), courtesy(Love does not dishonor others) are all part of a great love relationship.

Respect each other. Do not be content to "win" in differences of opinion or fights. This causes grudges and distorts your relationship. Instead try to honor your girlfriend/spouse's point of view even if you disagree.

Compromise and sacrifice are part of any great love relationship. There will be times you will need to do something not because you want to but because it matters to that special person. Don't play the martyr but rather rejoice that you can offer that time to the person you care for.

Love doesn't grow in a vacuum. Remember to tell that person how you feel regularly.

And for the married, if love grows cold remember to pray. You should do this anyway throughout any relationship. GOD can rekindle love if you both are willing to take it to HIM.

Do not rush love. If GOD has chosen you for the blessing of marriage, it will come in HIS perfect time. Rushing this can lead to heartbreak.

I will leave you with two of my favorite "love" passages.

Many waters cannot quench love, rivers cannot sweep it away. (Song of Songs 8:7)
Love never fails (1 Cor 13:8)

Disappointments

Well, my submission to the Word Weavers' retreat contest didn't place, sad to say. I am a bit disheartened as I felt it was some of my finest work. We writers are supposed to grow thick skins because of the nature of our business but even constructive criticism still hurts a bit.

The piece in question, Victory, can be found in my "Yarns" section.

Disappointments will come in spite of everything we do. What we do with them is what really matters. We can learn from these unpleasant events or we can allow ourselves to grow bitter. It is a choice.

(To be honest, I do regret to a certain extent submitting this piece. I never intended it for publication in the traditional sense. It was meant as a gift of firstfruits to GOD, to be shared freely with all who visited my blog. No charge incurred, implied, or intended. It still is my gift to HIM. To my readers, please feel free to share it with your churches, families etc... Just don't claim it as your own.)

Upheaval

I'm sure most of you are aware that the Egyptian president has stepped down. Whether this is a good thing remains to be seen. I for one will be paying attention to developments in that country with great interest.

But... I do not want people to worry. The events will unfold as GOD has allowed. HE is still on the throne in spite of what some might say.

What I do suggest is for people to pray. Thus far the turnover though at times violent has not had bloodbaths that so many revolutions are famous for. Pray that this continues. Pray for wise and merciful leadership for that country. Pray for the Christians in that country for they are on the frontlines.

Pray for cool heads amongst the voters and decisionmakers. The Muslim Brotherhood, a faction seeking power, does not have the best interests of the region or of all of Egypt's people. Pray that their influence is mitigated and/or nullified by moderates in that nation.

Also pray for Israel. Egypt was the longest standing peaceful relation in the region. There is a sentiment that the peace Egypt had with Israel was really only with Mubarak. Pray that the peace continues in an honorable fashion.

The future of Egypt is unseen to us but not to GOD. Fear not and trust in HIM who holds all nations in HIS hands.

Praise

Giving glory to GOD in the good times is easy. We celebrate the blessings HE has poured into our lives. the joys HE has wrought, and the mercy HE has brought.

Not quite so easy during the hard times. We wonder where HE is. Why there is so much pain. We still need to praise during these times of trouble.

Why? Because GOD is still there, still blessing us. Even if HE did nothing more than save us from Hell, that would merit praise for the rest of our days. Any trouble that we experience has to pass through the gates of HIS mercy and love.

The fact is our GOD is not some mythical god with a small g. HE doesn't need our adoration. It doesn't feed HIS ego or any other need. It is solely for our benefit. When we praise, we remember previous valleys HE has brought us through. We hear again the unfailing promises of GOD. We take our position as beloved children calling out to our loving Father.

True praise restores us. The Holy Spirit lifts us up. We are given strength and comfort.

Praise in the storms of life is a difficult but vital link in our chain of faith. It anchors us in rough times and reminds us of who we serve and who loves us more than we possibly imagine.

Shortfalls

We hear about budget shortfalls all too often these days. The United States sadly has spent itself into a corner. We as Americans need to consider saving rather than spending on both the personal and national levels.

That being said I am concerned about the trends I am seeing in state government. Education and aid to vulnerable populations are both suffering cuts. I fully agree that tough choices need to be made but it is disturbing how those least able to speak are being affected.

This is no time to be cutting the legs out from the struggling. Jobs may be coming back slowly, but nowhere near as fast as they are needed. People are being forced to choose between food and rent, medicine and utilities. And as a result of the recession, contributions to charitable assistance programs are down. There is literally less help to go around.

I am not saying that reform would not save state economies money. But examine the cost first. And make sure that it is indeed reform and not out and out cuts.

One of the things that this country is and will be judged on is how it treats the "least of these". Right now it doesn't look so good.

Accountability

Not something we always like to talk about, accountability is a must in a Christian's life. We don't like to lay bare our souls and secret sins to anyone. The fact is though, we need a close friend or family member who we can just talk to about our struggles.

In James it says we are to confess our sins to one another(James 5:16). This is not for your humiliation but rather your healing.. Your Christian brother or sister can help you bear your burden. They can support you with prayer and correction. They comfort you when you fall and help you dust yourself off.

I'm not saying this is comfortable. There will be times when you will truly smart under the correction. But if it is done gently and in love, it can have an encouraging effect.

Choose your accountability partner(s) wisely then heed their words. This will help you in your walk and make the devil grind his teeth.

Remember as iron sharpens iron so one man sharpens another(Proverbs 27:17).

GOD's peace be with you all.

Fox steps up

I was flabbergasted to hear that FOX allowed the John 3:16 ad to run after all. I am indeed quite impressed and thankful. So a special shoutout to the leadership at FOX. You were a blessing unlooked for, the very best kind.

Friendship

So, I'm back. We were blessed with visitors from the snowy Northern regions on Saturday, hence the lack of entry. It was wonderful to reconnect and fellowship with good friends.

A true friend is a treasure. They lift you up when you are down, correct you when needed, forgive your foibles, and rejoice with you on the hilltops. They love you at your best and your worst. If you have such friends count yourself blessed indeed for they are gifts from GOD.

So every once in a while let them know they are appreciated. Friendship, like all other worthwhile relationships, involves sacrifice. Your friend has had to deal with you when you haven't had your coffee, just got chewed out by your boss, or lost a family member. They spend time with you when you are sick. They love you even when you take the last chocolate chip cookie. So give them a hug and say thanks for being there.

It wouldn't hurt to say thanks to GOD too. HE's the best friend you will ever have and HE loved you even before you were born. We often don't take enough time to say a simple thanks. We'll remember to ask for things, sure. But GOD like ourselves loves to be appreciated.

Forgiveness

Sometimes I get irritated that people don't realize that forgiveness is a process not a snap decision. Yes, you decide to forgive because you are commanded to. Yes, you should do this as soon as possible. But depending upon the harm done, you may have to do so more than once. This happens because the wound may not have fully healed yet or something triggers the memory of the betrayal. You relive the moment. Thus the hurt becomes fresh again. Thus you must choose to forgive once more.

For victims of abuse this is especially common. That betrayal, is a tremendous shock to the psyche. The repercussions can reverberate years into the future. A smell, a raised voice, a harsh look, any of these can take a person back.

Forgiveness like the healing it brings is a journey. Don't beat yourself up if you have to re-forgive someone. Asking the help of the Holy Spirit, do so and move on.

Technology and the Law

My mother told me about the latest trend in identity theft tonight. No longer do thieves have to steal your mail, wallet or purse. They need only pass by you with a certain gadget and they can scan your credit card. Add this to the perverts with their phone cameras in bathrooms and one could get downright hostile.

The sad fact though is the legal system has failed to keep up with the tech savvy criminal. Often penalties seem trite given the damage done to the victim. Identity theft is a good example. The penalties are often a few years versus a lifetime of struggling with the victim's bad credit and other matters. Worse yet foreign crime syndicates have gotten quite good at infiltrating and violating the credit card system.

I don't mean to scaremonger. But I do say this. Don't expect justice to catch up with many of these scofflaws on this side of the Veil.

Some simple things you can do. Try to limit the amount of cards you carry. If you don't plan on going to Nordstrom's, you probably could lock up that Nordy's card. Check your credit annually at least. The bureaus are required to give you a free report annually. Take them up on it. If something is hinky, contact your card company immediately then notify the bureaus(Experian, Transunion, Equifax). There is also a government website that you could check.(http://www.usa.gov/ is the web portal)

I do want people to remember that we are called not to worry. You can't live in fear everyday that some criminal is going to violate your rights. You certainly should not get bitter about the way things are going. What you should do is pray. Pray for changed hearts and minds. Pray that the Holy Spirit moves mightily in Washington D. C. for reform in the legal code. Pray for police at every level as their jobs are often thankless and dangerous. We are directed to pray for authorities over us that we may live in peace.

V

I don't know how many of you watch the series "V" on ABC. To say that it has departed from the original is to put it mildly. The writers have attuned it more to our terror aware society. But also they have taken a weird twist with Anna's(the alien queen) obsession with the human soul.

I was a bit disturbed with this last episode. It has Anna confronting the Catholic leadership and them backing down. She does this by claiming she can steal away the Catholic faithful by the use of her advanced science. She alludes to Clarke's Third Law. For the uninitiated, Clarke's Third Law states that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.(from Wikipedia) Thus she was in effect saying she can counterfeit miracles and steal the faith of believers.

Now to my point. We have been warned that indeed there are such things as counterfeit miracles. The precautions we can take, you ask? Be in the Word. I can not stress this enough. GOD gave us HIS Word for comfort, edification, encouragement, redemption, and protection. We are told to test the spirits. We do this by syncing what something or someone says with the written testimony of GOD. If it does not fit with Scripture then stay away even if there is a pretty light show.

I must say that I am disappointed that the writers chose to take the path they did. Personally I would have loved for the cardinals to rebuke Anna as the little antichrist she was and boot her out of the Vatican. But in these times the secular media will never take that route.

So let me stress again once more be in the Word. It is a part of that spiritual armor that you may have heard about. (If you haven't, read Ephesians) "The Sword of the Spirit that is GOD's Word" is our one weapon in the equipment. If you don't know your Bible, you're going through life unarmed and blind.

FOX shoots itself in the foot

Well, yet another media venue has acted without thinking. An ad meant for the Super Bowl has been pulled. Its crime? A bible reference with a link to check it out. Oh, no, the viewer might have to see a verse reference. Not even the verse itself. The verse in question is John 3:16.

I could rant about how sex and inappropriate behavior is so prevalent in their ads. I could comment about the fact that the Christian advertisement was quite subtle and well done. In the end I'll just say I'm disgusted with FOX and leave it at that.

My hat is off to the designer of the ad and the creators of the website. An excellent way to get the message out while being considerate of others who might not be interested. May the LORD bless your next efforts.

One thing I am sure of, GOD's message of hope will win through. I just wouldn't want to be the person(s) who got in its way.

Identity

Through our lifetimes many people will try to label us. They will do so on the basis of ethnicity, social stature, physical prowess, or our raw being. Some will be kind, but others will not. The important thing is to know how GOD sees you.

GOD made you fearfully and wonderfully.(Ps 139:14)
GOD made you part of a royal priesthood.(1 Peter 2:9)
GOD made sure that nothing can separate you from HIS love.(Rom 8:39)
GOD made you more than a conqueror.(Rom 8:37)

Ultimately, think of this, if you have accepted Christ, HE sees you as HIS beloved child. HE sees you as you will be. Flawless and reflecting the glory of Jesus. You are a member of HIS kingdom. You are family.

If you want a taste of what that love means, read 1 Corinthians 13. This is love at its most gracious and giving.

I believe Max Lucado put it like this. If you are in Christ, GOD looks at you and see HIS Son. In a voice the rends the heavens, HE says this is my beloved child with whom I am well pleased.

It is in GOD that our true identity is found.

Faithfulness

Ruth is one of the more interesting figures of the Word. As a Moabitess, she was from a despised nation. Yet, GOD chose her to be in the bloodline of Jesus. Why? Because GOD always rewards faithfulness and HE blesses those who bless HIS people.

Ruth chose to stay with her mother-in-law, Naomi, even though Ruth's husband was dead. Her love for Naomi was such that she would go to Israel, a country not her own. Furthermore, she takes the LORD as her GOD.

GOD uses her loyalty to show HIS love to Naomi. Naomi had become bitter due to the loss of her sons. She thought that the LORD had abandoned her. Through the meeting and eventual marriage of Ruth and Boaz, the kinsman-redeemer, Naomi finds out that GOD never abandons us even when trials may make it seem so.

Some people question our dedication to Israel over the years. Did anyone realize how we have been blessed by our blessing them? GOD rewards those who bless HIS people.

As we are faithful to HIM, we mature and grow in our walk. This allows us to love others in a steadfast way, building up rather than tearing down. We can be faithful to others because HE has first proven faithful to us. And as we obediently carry out our GOD given tasks, we find that we also develop spiritual fruit.

Remember Jesus's parable of the talents. He who is faithful with a little will be entrusted with more.

The Joel Osteen-Elton John situation

I'm sure by now there are all sorts of opinions about the recent controversy between Pastor Joel Osteen and Elton John. I guess I'll toss in my two cents. The fact is Pastor Osteen said nothing new. Elton John is a sinner. So is the rest of the human race. So why the hoopla.

Political correctness is why. This term has become the six hundred pound gorilla in the room. It had a noble purpose once. It was an attempt to be more conscientious about other people's feelings. Now it has been used to excuse sin and prejudice. Yes, prejudice. Ironic, huh. You can't call homosexuality a sin because you'll offend this group. You can't have prayer in school because you might offend the group over there. Never mind that this nation was built on Christian ideals.

Pastor Osteen would be the first to admit he too is a sinner. All need GOD's forgiving grace. Including Elton John even if he won't admit it.

Should Pastor Osteen apologize? Most definitely not. The truth is the truth even when itching ears don't want to hear it.

Majesty

Unfortunately, many people don't truly associate majesty with GOD. Society has watered down GOD to the point that HIS grandeur is miniscule and HIS grasp limited. If you go to the movies, you see HIM abdicate responsibility(Bruce Almighty) on a whim, let HIS angels behave irresponsibly(Michael), and let Satan have way too much rein(Reaper, Supernatural, End of Days, etc...). Certainly HE is not depicted as HE truly is. Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent, Eternal and Immortal. If you believe the media, HE is a god with a small "g".

Read the latter portion of Job. This is no small GOD. HE is the creator of Heaven and Earth. HE is to be worshipped not trivialized. The simple fact is that people minimize GOD because they desire to go their own way. If they took GOD as HE is, they would have to correct their behavior.

Even some of the Church has done this. By emphasizing HIS Love and Mercy but not HIS Justice and Holiness, we receive a lopsided view of GOD. By denying that GOD will indeed send those not in Jesus's Book of Life to Hell, they also decrease HIS justice and devalue Jesus's death on the Cross. They do this to "fill seats". Instead of preaching truth, they give people what they want to hear.

The simple fact is our GOD is majestic and all powerful. Seek to minimize HIM at your peril. Why anyone would want a wimpy GOD is beyond me. If HE was too wimpy to stop the evil that is persistent in society, how could I trust HIM to be strong enough to save me.

Behind the Scenes

Have you ever noticed that sometimes when you go GOD's way, things just seem to fall into place?

I was reading Esther this morning, a book in which you don't really hear much mention of GOD. But HE is there none the less, guiding HIS people and providing. It almost seems like a series of coincidences. Esther is chosen to be queen. Mordecai overhears a plot. The king's dreams are troubled. All just seem to happen.

Something I'd like you to remember. There is no such thing as a coincidence where GOD is concerned.

GOD knew that HIS people would be threatened at a later date by Haman. He set in motion a plan years before to save the Jews. Esther is reminded of this by Mordecai. "And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this."(Esther 4:14, Today's New International Version)

GOD loves to work behind the scenes. When we are obedient to the call placed upon us, we find that HE has already gone ahead of us laying the trail. I'm not saying there are not difficulties or trials on that path. Such impediments are par for the course. What I am saying is HE has been there before us and has prepared the way.

So next time something just seems to happen for the better, smile. As I once saw written, a coincidence is simply GOD choosing to remain anonymous.

GOD's Timetable not Ours

This is almost a follow up to the entry on rest. We in our busyness sometimes forget that GOD works on HIS own schedule. Thus when we send up our arrow prayers we expect immediate satisfaction.

Blessedly GOD just doesn't work that way. Yes, there are times HE will give an immediate answer. But let us remember that Daniel received one of his answers after a long fast. Moses was sent to deliver the Israelites in the proper measure of time.

My pastor made note of the fact that Jesus did not just come to save. HE came to have an abundant and loving relationship with us. To restore what was broken in the Garden of Eden. Relationshps that matter evolve over a lifetime.

Prayer, that vital lifeline to GOD, was not meant to be just a series of arrow prayers on the way to heaven. It is the building block of a love story that never ends. Jesus wants to hear about every part of your life. And HE wants to give input on every part.

We are often dissatisfied when our prayers do not result in immediate action. What we don't realize is that often what we have asked for begins a process not a resolution. This process results in our maturing and deepening in our walk.

So don't get angry if your prayer does not appear to be answered that very second. GOD is not a genie. HE works in HIS time and for HIS purposes in our lives. GOD's answers to our prayers are always worth waiting for. Even if that answer is no. Because HIS no often lead to a more glorious yes down the road.
